Prewrapped Insulated Underground Heat Transfer Line

Z- Flex is wrapped within at least two layers of ¼ “ thick foil / foam / foil insulation. It is encased within an extra heavy duty,

co-extruded, outer shell. The outer shell carries a lifetime warranty from its manufacturer.

When discussing insulation for underground pipes - any talk of R Value is nonsense.

R Value is a measure of convection; with Z-Flex Heat Transfer Lines you are only concerned with conduction and radiation. The foil / foam / foil insulation we use handles these nicely. Radiant energy coming from the pipes wants to hit a solid object and heat it. One layer of foil reflects 97% of this radiant energy back to the pipes and there are four to six layers of foil surrounding the pipes in our heat transfer lines. Between the foil, the foam creates an effective conductive break, the airspace between the insulation and the inner surface of the outer barrier is even more effective as a conductive break. With this combination of radiant barrier and conductive break, very little of your precious BTUs (heat) will escape your system due to the Z-Flex Heat Transfer Lines construction.
